My name is Alex.

My print journey started in 2013. I worked from intern to master printer and shop manager of a leading publishing press before starting my own publishing project, The Asylum. Since 2021 I have continued to publish work from artists all over the country, self publish my personal work and I even started a clothing line.

The Asylum was born out of the craziest time of my life, the worst time of my life, when the one solid ground to stand on was printmaking. I worked hard throughout the years, in spite of the industry, to develop a spirit of collaboration that focuses on creative evolution, and what is possible beyond the rules.

In my decade or so in print, I have collaborated with artists of all types, from musicians to painters, printmakers and even sculptors. I have enjoyed working with Lance Letscher, Ben Muñoz, Maricela Sanchez, clare bollnow, Adrian Armstrong, Suzi Davidoff, kimber key, David Everett and many more and have editioned for artists such as Trenton Doyle Hancock, James Sullivan, Ann Conner and John Alexander, among others.

FOR THE LOVE OF PRINT

Work With Me

Work With Me

I have a floor model Charles Brand Etching Press from 1977 with a 30X50 Press bed. She is ready to print all your woodcuts, linocuts, monotypes, etchings, emboss and more, Let’s find out what else she can do together! I also have a smaller turn of the century proofing press with a 11X17 press bed I restored and use for smaller editions. As of2025 I have become the proud mom of a very large 48X72 red, pinstriped press I’m calling Lo, short for Lola. I’m excited to get to know her. If you have a project in mind, I would love to hear all about it and find out if The Asylum is the publisher for you.

Residencies

as 2025 starts, I am itching to publish again and collaborate with artists here in my home state. While I look for a permanent space, I have Lola set up ready to roll in my garage and we are interested in some punk rock printmaking. For now, residencies are available to Denver locals, or artists able to provide their own lodging in Denver.

Press Rental

If you are a printmaker wanting to make big work, but not wanting any assistance, materials or time, I’m happy to work out some space and time on my machines. Since I am an active publisher, we will need to get on the same page about project duration and time needs, so send me a message and lets get you inky.

Contract Printing

If you are an artist in need of an edition of museum quality, traditional technique, fine art prints., I’m your girl.

I charge a flat rate of $250 per day for contract editioning and this includes standard materials and my time. Should your project require exorbitant amounts of twin rocker paper, that will be an additional cost. We will need to set up a consultation to get all the details going but listen, If you want some insanely beautiful prints, lets sesh.

In addition to my professional work, I have a sprawling art practice that includes collage, printmaking, drawing, sculpture, glass and really anything I can get my hands on.

I self-publish my prints and use the sales of my own art to fund the residencies I host, with the money going directly towards materials, room and board and other residency/shop maintenance costs.

Currently, I am scouring Denver and the surrounding area for a shop space, so all sales of work will be going towards this endeavor and whatever materials I get into because, I can’t stop collaborating, and I got a new toy.

Thank you for your support and patience while i change my stars again.
